Elon Catholic Campus Ministry
Liturgical Ministries

Our students serve as liturgical ministers at all of our Masses. This is a beautiful way to become even more actively involved during the Mass. We encourage any student to volunteer and be trained for any of the following roles. We have scheduled trainings throughout the year, and we often personally train new ministers when requested. Please contact if you are interested.

Lectors

Lectors proudly proclaim the Word of God. This role is great for those who like to speak publicly or enjoy reading in front of others. Two lectors serve at every Mass. The first Lector will proclaim the first reading, usually taken from the Old Testament, and sometimes will read the Psalm. The second Lector will proclaim the second reading, usually one of the epistles from the New Testament, as well as the Prayers of the Faithful (General Intercessions).

Extraordinary Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist the priest with the distribution of the precious Body and Blood. Two to three Extraordinary Ministers serve at each Mass. It is an honor to offer the holy Eucharist to our fellow Catholics!

Greeters

Greeters welcome everyone at the door. This role is perfect for those who love to smile and welcome people into our Mass.

Readings for July 13, 2025

Pronunciation Guide (for those hard words!)

To Prepare, one should:

  • Prayerfully prepare before arriving for the celebration of Mass by reading the assigned scripture, taking care to discern the meaning and importance of the text.
  • The reader should also practice the readings aloud, making sure to pronounce words distinctly, and to understand their meaning.
  • The reader should realize that the ministry of reader is one of evangelization, inviting the assembly into a deeper and richer relationship with God, and as such the reader should come prepared to proclaim the Word with conviction and passion.
  • The reader should also arrive at Church early enough to attend to any practical details, such as placement of the microphone, reading over the announcements and/or petitions, and to communicate with the priest about any necessary details.
