Meet Dan Glass, Peer Ministry Coordinator

As a 2012 Elon graduate, Catholic Campus Ministry and Elon have always had a special place in my heart. I always remember Wednesday Night Catholic as being my favorite weekly event, providing me with the spiritual renewal that I needed to focus my mind and heart. Having the opportunity to return to Elon as CCM’s Peer Minister after leaving in 2010 as part of Elon’s dual degree engineering program is a true blessing!

After I departed Elon in 2010, I spent two years at Georgia Tech studying civil engineering to complete my undergraduate studies in Elon’s engineering program. After graduation from both Georgia Tech and Elon in 2012, I embarked on a year-long mission in South Sudan as a lay missionary. While I was in South Sudan, I taught math and English as well as organized youth center activities and after school programs for the children.

Since returning to Elon in August, I have had the opportunity to work with CCM and the leadership team to strengthen the community and faith on campus. What comes to mind first as my favorite event was the Alternative Fall Break service trip that saw twelve students serve at a variety of organizations throughout the Atlanta area. Opportunities included meal preparation and delivery, serving a meal at a children’s shelter, and many others that allowed us all to grow in faith through our service.

Looking ahead, I am most excited for CCM’s future retreats. Each year we make a Spring retreat to the mountains where everyone can grow spiritually and as a community while taking a step back from daily life that can be hectic. Providing students with the opportunity to grow spiritually and to walk closer to Christ brings me great joy, and I look forward to everything that is being planned for the future!
