Servant Leadership Core Team

Kristen Burke


Year: Senior
Major: Human Service Studies
Hometown: West Chester, PA
Interests and other involvement: I like to exercise, cook, online shopping, watercolor paint, have long talks with my friends. I am a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and an Office Assistant in the Office of Residence Life.
Fun Fact: I studied in Florence, Italy during Fall 2016. One of my favorite memories was watching the sunset on my last night in my favorite plaza in Florence, Piazza Michelangelo.
Favorite thing about CCM: CCM has provided me with a supportive community that has shaped my college experience. I am so fortunate to be in the position I am now. As I continue to serve our community, I am also able to grow in my personal faith and relationships.

Maya Aboutanos

Major: Public Health
Hometown: Indialantic, FL
Interests and other involvement: I like to hike, anything outdoors, listen to music, and watch Avatar the Last Airbender. I am an Orientation Leader, Honors Fellow, and a member of SUB and APO Service Fraternity.
Fun Fact: I'm pretty good at headstands.
Favorite thing about CCM: Well, Jesus is pretty cool.

Liz Canto

Major: Religious Studies and Public Health with minors in Poverty Studies and Social Justice
Hometown: Lakeland, FL
Interests and other involvement: In my free time I like to read, paint, Netflix, hang out with friends, and go on adventures. I am also a part of Elon Volunteers! as the Delivery Shift Coordinator for Campus Kitchen, the Service Chair for my co-ed service sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, and a part of Elonthon's Operation Committee.
Fun Fact: I have correctly guess the exact number of jelly beans in a container at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book premiere.
Favorite thing about CCM: It provides me a sense of community with others that bonded together with our faith and our love for the Lord and each other as well as gives me an opportunity to learn more about my faith, pray and worship with others.

Emily Keller

Major: Biology Pre-Med Track with minors in Neuroscience and Public Health
Hometown: Avon, OH
Interests and other involvement: I like to watch Gilmore Girls, hang out in my eno hammock, and movie nights with friends. I am involved in Pre Health Club, Biology Club, Alpha Xi Delta, Intramurals.
Fun Fact: My favorite color is orange, just like my hair
Favorite thing about CCM: It is an incredible community and support system that has provided me a home and the most amazing friends here at Elon

Andrew Novinski

Major: Sports and Event Management
Hometown: Irving, TX
Interests and other involvement: Playing basketball. I am a student assistant in the Registrar's Office and I am also a part of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity here on campus.
Fun Fact: I spent the fall of my first year as part of the Elon Gap Experience where I spent a month backpacking in Wyoming, four weeks of service in 4 different locations over the United States, and studied abroad in Costa Rica for the final six weeks.
Favorite thing about CCM: I love the close knit community that CCM provides and the strong foundation for my faith.

Chris Pottorff

Hometown: West Dundee, IL
Interests and other involvement: Reading, Tennis, Soccer. I hang out in the Moseley Center fairly often, so stop by and say hi!
Fun Fact: I love sci-fi and sports.
Favorite thing about CCM: It provides a tighter-knit community that can sometimes be lacking on the larger campus.

Marina Thornton

Major: Biology
Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA
Interests and other involvement: I like to sleep, eat, hang out with family and friends, be outside, procrastinate and then complain about how much I have to do. I am involved in Women's Club Soccer, Elonthon, Lincoln Pre-Health Society.
Fun Fact: I'm a triplet
Favorite thing about CCM: I love that CCM gave me a home at Elon and has allowed me to find some of my best friends.

Leah Vail

Major: English: Creative Writing with a minor in Leadership Studies
Hometown: Portland, ME
Interests and other involvement: I love volunteering, advocating for animal rights, singing, listening to podcasts, and going to Mass! I am a Leadership Fellow, Vice President of Animal Protection Alliance, the Student Mindfulness Coordinator at the Truitt Center, and an Orientation Leader. In my free time I like to watch cool documentaries and then geek out about them to literally everyone!
Fun Fact: I lived in Tampa, Florida for 12 years and am a Floridian at heart.

John Walkowski

Interests and other involvement: I am a Tour Guide, Orientation Leader, Beta Alpha Psi Member, LEAD Program
Fun Fact: I have been to 20 states, which is 30 less than what it should be.
Favorite thing about CCM: The people in CCM are amazing and are truly some of the best people I have met at Elon.

Fr. Peter Tremblay, OFM Conv.

Associate Chaplain for Catholic Life and Catholic Campus Minister

Brief Bio: Fr. Peter was born and raised outside of Buffalo, NY. Fr. Peter attended Franciscan University of Steubenville and then joined the Franciscan Friars. He studied at Washington Theological Union receiving a Masters of Divinity and has been ordained a Catholic Priest since 2012. Apart from ministry his hobbies include woodworking and furniture making along with reading and studying theology, philosophy, and science. He is very fond of chicken wings and snow.

Brief Bio: Trung (goes by T) has been involved with Catholic Campus Ministry ever since graduating from UNC - Chapel Hill. T loves working with university students and has been known to share his talents in the kitchen and passion for food.

Tricia McCarthy

Coordinator of Faith Formation

Brief Bio: Tricia is from Highlands Ranch, Colorado and attended Loras College and Notre Dame to study theology. She enjoys anything outdoors, wearing her chacos, dogs, reading, and making nerdy theology jokes.

Leah Breindel

Student Ministry Coordinator

Brief Bio: Leah is from Goldsboro, NC, and graduated from NC State University with a degree in Sociology. She loves most things in connection with nature, taking pictures, and having deep conversations over hot chocolate.
