Resolutions

We, the country of Japan,

Aware of the potential rise in sea level due to global warming, caused most likely by increased pollution and a high rate of deforestation,

Noting with deep concern the high rate at which the population is increasing and the worlds inability to sustain a sufficient level of food production in order to adequately feed the population,

Realizing that our world, rich in natural resources, is being depleted of those resources at alarming rates, and conceding that total depletion of those resources would be of massive misfortune to our society’s standard of living,

Believing that the energy demands put forth by, predominantly, the industrialized nations, are causing great stress on our ecosystem and resources,

Observing that all undeveloped countries wish to industrialize to the best of their capabilities in order to attain the status of wealth,

    1. Calls upon all nations to voluntarily decrease the emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and strive to decrease the levels of pollution as a whole, thus slowing global warming and giving all nations, prominently island nations a chance to assess their being and future existence;
    2. Recommends that every government, including our own, begins debating the possibilities of imposing laws that regulate the number of offspring that one couple can legally conceive;
    3. Strongly urges everyone to strongly investigate and research possible alternative energy sources such as wind or hydro, thus limiting the demand put on the worlds natural resources;
    4. Encourages all the so-called wealthy nations to consider offering financial and other forms of aid to countries not as fortunate as themselves in order to increase the global wealth and thus the common good as well.
