History

In 1992, ZTA adopted The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as its national philanthropy. Later, the Fraternity broadened its focus to encompass not only the Komen Foundation, but also other educational means dedicated to fighting breast cancer through education, awareness and promoting breast health. We are now proud to support Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.

 Think Pink!

In 2004, the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation announced that THINK PINK!® became a registered trademark of ZTA with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This is now the umbrella for all of the organization’s breast cancer education and awareness projects.  During the month of October, the Eta Zeta chapter, working with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Kappa Sigma fraternity, invites the entire Elon community to the Think Pink! Social to learn more about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. Zeta also passes out Think Pink! ribbons and shower cards to students, faculty and staff.

Yoplait lids

The ZTA Foundation is now partnered with Yoplait® and the Save Lids to Save Lives campaign. In addition to the 10 cents donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for each pink yogurt lid collected by ZTA, Yoplait will donate an additional 5 cents to the ZTA Foundation up to 300,000 lids! The Eta Zeta chapter has collection bins around campus to help generate more money for this important cause

Golf Tournament

The Eta Zeta chapter’s biggest philanthropic event is its annual golf tournament.  This event provides the opportunity for families, friends and sisters to all come together to raise money for the ZTA Foundation. In the spring of 2007, Zeta's 10th annual Crown Classic Golf Tournament became the most successful tournament in the chapter's history with proceeds exceeding $24,000 to benefit Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.  This was more than double of efforts from the previous year!
