Final Phoenix cash winner named

Nov. 18 - Dan Ingle, an investigator with the Campus Police, is the 12th and last weekly Phoenix cash winner in this year's United Way campaign. He was selected in a drawing held earlier this week, and a $25 deposit has been made to his account. Rally and Auto Rally giveaway set for Dec. 1

The final 2005 Alamance County United Way rally and the 'Great Auto Giveaway' will take place at the NC Railroad Company Shops Station (Amtrak Depot) in downtown Burlington at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. One of the 12 semifinalists named in weekly drawings throughout the fall will drive away in a new car! Successful campaign wraps up

As this year's United Way campaign draws to a close Nov. 18, our current tally shows a total of $42,272.35 raised!

Our goal was $40,000. Many thanks to all who contributed!

'Operation Gulfport' benefits storm relief efforts & local agencies

On Friday, Nov. 18, nine agencies will be sponsoring the Operation Gulfport 50:50 Spaghetti Lunch and Supper from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. You can eat in, take away or have spaghetti delivered for either lunch or dinner. Details are as follows:

Location - First United Church of Christ located at the corner of Davis and South Church Streets in Burlington.

Entertainment - provided by Alamance County Line Dancers and Sam Kiser.

Cost - $6.00 per plate - dine in or carry out. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase.

Delivery will be available for 10 or more. To arrange delivery, call 260-3579 by November 16.

Half of the proceeds from this benefit will support the sponsoring agencies, while the other half will support their Gulfport counterparts. Sponsoring agencies include:

  • Alamance County Community Services Agency
  • Alamance County Meals on Wheels
  • Family Abuse Services
  • Girl Scouts, Tarheel Triad Council
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Loaves & Fishes
  • Open Door Clinic
  • Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club
