Task #7: Prevention/Treatment Options

Vaccination is only one of several malaria control options. How does a vaccination prevent malaria? What are the problems with vaccination as a prevention? What are the positive aspects? Is it the best way to prevent malaria?

Might there be added value in promoting a combination of the vaccine along with one of the other measures, e.g. insecticide-treated bed nets, mosquito control, prompt treatment for children and pregnant women?

As you endeavor to answer this question, work with the group who will conduct a cost-benefit analysis of your options. Your two groups should consider both cost and feasibility.
