Task # 1: Evacuation Procedure and Emergency Shelters

The major piece of the Hurricane Section of the required Emergency Management Plan that remains to be completed is the evacuation procedure. That section should include:

  • A summary of the county's evacuation plan (who comprises the county's Control Group to make the evacuation decision; timing; areas/groups to evacuate; order of evacuation; routes; destination - including hotel listings; I-40 reversal plan, etc.)
  • A flow chart of agencies to coordinate, their responsibilities, etc.
  • A map of evacuation routes
  • A list of emergency shelters and map of their location
  • A list of supplies for persons coming to shelters to bring with them
  • A plan for re-entry (who and when)
