New Faculty Advisor Needed.

We need a member of the Elon Faculty to take the place of our former advisor Mike Magoon. That means we need to be asking faculty if they would be interested in helping. Please have interested Elon faculty members contact Angie Smith at 449-8000 ext 253 if they are interested.

If you have any questions or concerns and would like to contact your officers for Rotaract by snail-mail feel free to send a message to our Campus Box 7119.

It was decided a couple of weeks ago that we will be conducting committee meetings at different times than during our regular club time. This means that you need to be in contact with the service directors to find out when they are holding a meeting. This decision was made so that we will be able to focus more on the club business during our weekly meetings instead of breaking off into sections. Also this system will allow for more new ideas to be presented and discussed by various members.

For those of you who were able to make it Tuesday night, we had a great guest speaker who had a lot of useful information regarding credit and establishing/maintaining credit. I think some of the things he had to say scared a few of us (ME! ;P) about our current credit status, but I hope you all enjoyed. Don't forget we will have another guest speaker next week that Anne has graciously lined up for us-so thanks to Angie for getting Bob Parrish and thanks to Anne for getting her guest which we will meet next week.

Community Service Projects

We are coming along well with our plans for upcoming community service projects but we still need more volunteers to help.

An afternoon Literacy Program has been arranged at Gibbonsville Elementary School on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30. We will begin tutoring and helping the kids at this school beginning Wed. Nov 4. If you are interested in helping and becoming involved please contact either Melissa Dawley or Emily Infanger. They will be glad to answer any questions that you may have.

We are still making plans to do the Reading at a local library. Please stay alert for more details at a later date.

Here are some potential community service projects that we may be working on as the year goes on.

  • Visit a Rest Home around Christmas
  • Help out at a Vet. Shelter
  • Adopt a Grandparent
  • Help with Habitat for Humanity
  • Rotaract Special Olympics
  • Relay for Life

If you have any other ideas feel free to mention them at the next meeting.

Fund-Raiser Projects

Final Exam Candy Grams
We will be selling Candy Grams in Moseley on Nov 21, 22 and Dec 2,3. Be thinking of a time when you will be available to help sell. We need everyone to help support this project!

Also be bringing in recipies for us to include in the cookbook that we are organizing. We hope to have this project close to finished by the end of this school year.

Dues: Please pay your dues ASAP is you haven't already. They are $10.
