| I am a lecturer in philosophy at Elon University where I have taught since 1994. My recent book, The Ethical Practice of Critical Thinking is available through Carolina Academic Press or through the home page at http://zuberfowler.com. After doing weekly jail ministry in Durham, NC for years, I began teaching courses on restorative justice as applied philosophy. Assisted by a three-year grant from the Metanexus Institute, I worked with the Elon Center for Environmental Science and the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, to form our Terra Nova Community where science and spirituality partner as a community of environmental stewardship. At present, I'm working on a book about contemplation for philosophers. Philosophy has its roots and renewal in wonder and contemplation, but philosophy needs a way to claim and practice its own contemplation as deep and enlightening as the disciplines of religious meditation. | ||
