Behind the efforts of Riddle, the Phoenix (7-4 overall, 4-3/Tied-3rd SoCon) finished the season ranked 23rd nationally in both the FCS Coaches' poll and The Sports Network's poll this week. The Phoenix rated as high as 14th in the TSN poll and 15th in the FCS poll in 2007. Elon finished second in the country in passing offense, 10th in scoring offense, 16th in passing efficiency and 19th in total offense.

Riddle led the FCS in total passing yards (3,817), passing yards per game (347.0) and completions per game (31.5). He also ranked third nationally in both total offense (339.8 yards per game) and points responsible for (22.2 per game) and 17th in passing efficiency (146.3 rating).

Riddle finished his rookie campaign with a 68.1 completion percentage, connecting on 346 of his 508 passes with 13 interceptions for 3,817 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also ran for nine touchdowns. The three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Week and three-time SoCon Freshman of the Week also earned National Player of the Week status once and SoCon Athlete of the Month distinction once.

Along the way, Riddle threw an Elon and SoCon record of 41 completions at then-No. 6 Wofford as well as an Elon and SoCon record of 534 yards at Furman. He also orchestrated an Elon milestone of 66 total plays of offense at South Florida and was responsible for a Phoenix record of six touchdowns against both Furman and Big South Conference champion Liberty.

Riddle established new Elon and SoCon single-season plateaus for completions, passing attempts, passing yards, touchdown passes, plays of total offense (622), yards of total offense (3,738) and touchdowns responsible for (40). He also ended up with NCAA freshman records for touchdown passes, total offense per game and net yards.

The Phoenix signal caller also notched SoCon single-season records for total offense average, games passing for 300 or more yards (nine), consecutive games passing for 300 or more yards (nine), consecutive games passing for a touchdown (11) and consecutive games passing for 200 or more yards (11).
