Elon vs. Campbell Baseball Game

Masonic Home for Children

After much planning and anticipating, this group of 7 kids was finally able to come catch their first Elon baseball game. It turned out to be a perfect event to end the inaugural year of 'Day with the Phoenix'!

  • After arriving, each guest was given their very own Elon Phoenix Baseball T-shirt and 2008 Baseball Program.
  • They were then led up to the Koury Fieldhouse where many of the baseball players met them at the door to sign autographs on their programs and new T-shirts.
  • Having never visited Elon University before, the group was led on a short tour through the heart of campus on their way to Colonnades Dining Hall.
  • Several student-athletes from the football, soccer, and volleyball teams met us at Colonnades Dining Hall to sponsor the group's meal. Each athlete sponsored one member of the group’s meal, and spent time getting to know them during the meal. The desert bar proved to be the most popular area of the buffet!
  • After satisfying their hunger, the group headed back down to the athletic stadiums and was led on a personal mini-tour of Rhodes Stadium and was given special access to the game field by Associate Athletic Director Trip Durham.
  • The game was getting ready to begin, so we all headed back over to Latham Park on the final leg of the agenda to watch the Phoenix pummel Campbell 7-1.
  • The baseball players went beyond expectations and donated two team-autographed baseballs to the kids to make the day complete. They didn't want to leave!
  • We hope to have another event for the Masonic Home for Children next year! They were a pleasure to spend the day with!
