Clay Pots

Pot All of these clay pots are hand-carved and used for drinking. Water is kept in the ceramic canteen because it acts like a refrigerator to keep the water cool. Tea, a main export in Sri Lanka, is sipped out of the cups and saucers. Most of the designs represent components in nature such as trees, flowers, fish, and leaves, demonstrating the Sri Lankan’s love for the environment. Some larger Sri Lankan clay pots are used to collect rain water to help their crops grow, which is especially useful if a good irrigation system is not present.
