What began as just a few dance majors dancing around for a spring show has become an organization for students who enjoy spending their free-time working on dance choreography.

Just Dancing Around will feature a wide variety of different types of performances throughout the 50 minute show.

“We don’t want people to fall asleep,” said sophomore Cathy Liu, president of the Just Dancing Around organization.

The nine student choreography pieces range from solos to a group of 16 dancers and cover numerous subjects. Some are upbeat, while others explore the emotion of remorse.

“It’s all very different,” Liu said. “Students submitted a lot more subtle pieces this year.”

The organization looks at the concept of the piece submitted and how well the dance flows accordingly.

“It’s really a meshing of the content and the idea of the piece,” Liu said.
