:: Disrespect for musician
For most of us, “free food” is more than inviting, especially at 11 p.m. on a Thursday. Add some live music, with a dude jamming his heart out 10 feet in front of me and I am golden.

However, I was more than disappointed to have to strain for the words of his songs. While chomping down on some kicking wings, I couldn’t help but wish that everyone else was stuffing their face instead of yapping in the background. Let’s just say that rude is an understatement.

If we wish to continue to invite artists to perform in such a unique, personal environment like “The Zone,” let’s actually show the artist the respect they deserve. So next time, cuddle up on a couch, shut up and let the music ring through your ears, not cell phones and distracting conversations from the “audience.”

I’m not really sure what kind of audience turns their back and barely recognizes the existence of an artist standing there with a microphone, guitar and

passion.

I am embarrassed to be a part of Five Times August’s experience at Elon. What kind of reputation are we creating for ourselves? All I know is that it is not very inviting. Next time don’t even bother showing up for the free food.
