Elon’s Campus Recreation began its annual Cardio Conquest, a month-long exercise program focused on raising fitness awareness, on Monday. The event will run until Nov. 21.

The head of Cardio Conquest, Katie Sherman said that Cardio Conquest purpose is to get more students into an exercise routine

Groups that enter the Cardio Conquest are placed into teams of four and required to complete 1360 minutes on different cardio machines. This is broken up into 320 minutes on machines like the elliptical and 400 minutes on the bikes.

Sherman said she hopes that Cardio Conquest will get students into a regular exercise routine. After a month of working toward a goal, students will get into regular gym visits.

The top three groups that complete all 1360 minutes are announced at the 12th Annual 3K Turkey Trot on Nov. 21.

Sherman said she hopes to see more students involved than in previous years. "It gives you a chance to surround yourself with people who want to be fitness oriented as well," says Sherman
