Bubble Bitching editors don’t compete with The Pendulum
Letter

As the creators and authors of Bubble Bitching, we’d like to respond to the editorial that appeared in The Pendulum last week relating to the "You Go to Elon If" Web site and Bubble Bitching.

It has never, nor will it ever, be our intention to compete with The Pendulum for the position of Elon’s print news source. We feel that it is extraordinarily obvious that Bubble Bitching’s purpose is to entertain readers with an alternative look at the Elon community, and not to supply students, faculty or anyone else with a legitimate source of news.

The author of the editorial lashed out at the Web site (directly) and Bubble Bitching (by association), calling their content "broad" and "whiny." This is clearly demonstrative of insufficient familiarity with the spirit of both of these publications.

To imply that either of these was created as a substitute for, or as an affront to, The Pendulum is simply absurd. For the record, we have submitted pieces to The Pendulum on several occasions, and have been printed every time.

Additionally, we regularly discuss our suggestions with friends that are staff members of The Pendulum and would encourage every student to do the same. We have done our part, and take serious exception to the tone of the editorial implying that we are attempting to replace The Pendulum in any way.

To claim that whoever created the Web site "wasted their time" is a surprisingly unprofessional and trite statement coming the official paper of Elon University.

To spend this kind of effort attacking the Elon’s underground and the reaction it generates serves no purpose, perhaps you should focus your energies on what you do best. In short, it’s just as our paper says: Quit your damn Bitching, that’s our job.
