Search and Register
Elon OnTrack
Elon OnTrack is a secure site that allows students to preregister
for classes electronically. To preregister on-line you must have
an active username and password for OnTrack. If you do not have
a username and/or password, please contact the computer support
help desk at ext 5200, to receive or reset your login information.
Step One: Access the Website
The website can be accessed from www.elon.edu -> E-Net -> Elon OnTrack or
from the web address https://ontrack.elon.edu.
Log in using your username and password. Click OnTrack
for Students and choose the Register for
Sections option. Choose the Search and
Register option. Search and Register is the best option if
you do not know the exact course section you want. You are able to
search and register for courses based on specific criteria such as
term, meeting days and times, course title keywords and instructor.
You may also access the Register for Sections
option using the link at the bottom of the Registration Results
screen.
Step Two: Using Search and Register
Below is a list of fields that you may use to
search for and register for classes. You must supply information in
the required fields as indicated below.
- Choose a term from the drop down box for
which you are registering. This is a Required
Field
. (e.g. 05/05
-Summer Session II 2005, 05/01 - Fall Semester 2005)
- If you know
the subject of the course (e.g. ENG) you want to check for
availability, you may click on the subject from the drop down box.

If you know the course level of the course (e.g. 100, 200) you want
to check availability, you may click on the level from the drop down
box.
- If you know the number (e.g. 110, 250) of the course you want
to check for availability, you may enter that number in the "Course
No" column.
- If you know the section (e.g. A, LL) of the course you
want to check for availability, you may enter that letter in the
"Section Number" column.
- You may use any of the other search
criteria available on the screen including meeting times, days of
the week, instructor name or you may leave them blank. . After you
have entered the criteria, a screen will be displayed that lists
the courses that match the selected criteria. To register for
these courses, check the box beside the course(s) you want and
click Submit at the bottom of the screen. PLEASE
NOTE: A new feature of OnTrack allows you to request multiple
courses at the same time.
- On the Register and Drop Sections Screen
you must choose an action from the action drop down box for each
of your requested courses. Choose the option of RG to add the
course to your schedule and the RM option to remove the course
from your list. Click Submit.
Once you have submitted your course requests, OnTrack will check
the courses for time conflicts, course limits, and prerequisites.
For example, if your selected course is closed or prerequisites have
not been met, an error message will appear at the top of your
registration results screen. This message notifies you that you were
NOT successfully registered for that particular course. You may
click the home tab at the bottom of the screen to go back to the
menu and choose the Register for classes option to
register for an alternate course.
Step Three: Verify Your Schedule:
Click on the My Schedule option to view and/or
print your schedule. This will verify your successful
preregistration in the courses that you selected.
Step Four: Log Out of OnTrack:
You may exit OnTrack by clicking the Log Out
button once the process is complete. You are allowed to make changes
to your schedule during the preregistration period from the time
your access begins until the end of preregistration. If you want to
make changes to your schedule you may log in and make adjustments
during the preregistration period.
