Associate Director
The Carolina Center for Public Service (CCPS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
The associate director assists the director with the establishment and fulfillment of the mission, goals, and day-to-day operation of the CCPS and is responsible for all facets of the Center in the absence of the Director. CCPS is a pan-university center reporting to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement. The mission of CCPS is to engage and support the faculty, students and staff of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in meeting the needs of North Carolina and beyond. Service-Learning Program Director NEW!
Virginia Commonwealth University
Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a service-learning program director in the Division of Community Engagement. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Community Engagement, this position will be responsible for all aspects of VCU’s service-learning program so that the university meets its student engagement goals and the community receives meaningful services that meet their needs. The responsibilities for this position include: assisting academic units with developing service-learning opportunities for their students; training faculty and community partners on service-learning practices; training and supervising undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants who support service-learning classes; enhancing visibility of service-learning within VCU and with the community; evaluating and applying service-learning best practices and assisting with scholarship opportunities pertaining to service-learning; assisting with university-wide service projects; managing a service-learning data system; and serving as a liaison to university and community organizations to assist and promote community-based learning. There is the potential for teaching an undergraduate course and developing an affiliation with an academic unit. This position will collaborate with a part-time Service-Learning Faculty Scholar. Global Environment & Youth Voice/Youth Vote 2008 Coordinator NEW!
Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) is looking for a dynamic, passionate individual to work in our Baltimore headquarters to coordinate environmental initiatives as well as mobilize for Youth Voice/Youth Vote 2008—our 2008 electoral initiative. This person will work in a fast-paced, youth-led office to organize regional summits to educate young people about some of these issues and solutions; connect them with foreign policy experts, equip them with the ability to speak to these issues in a commonsense and inclusive way; and support their efforts to mobilize and hold candidates accountable on these issues. Human Rights/Peace and Security Program Assistant NEW!
Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) seeks a dynamic, passionate individual to work in our Baltimore headquarters on human rights and U.S.-Muslim relations programming. AID is sponsoring campaigns on campuses across the country on both human rights and U.S.-Muslim relations initiatives. Students have submitted proposals for innovative campaigns that they would like to organize on their campuses or in their communities, and the top 10 winners for each campaign (20 total) have been chosen. AID is giving these campaign winners small grants, technical assistance and ongoing organizing support to implement their campaigns on the ground. The campaigns will be put up on our website for a vote by our members, and the winning campaigns will get an additional prize. Other campuses will receive mini-grants to replicate the winning campaigns.
In addition to working on the two campaigns, another integral aspect of the work will be to integrate a strong Islamic/Muslim cultural component into our U.S.-Muslim relations programming through film screenings, music, visual arts, drama, and writing.Now, AID is hiring a savvy, young leader to work with us to help run these campaigns. Programs Coordinator

The Programs Coordinator of the Center for Service and Social Action has responsibility for programs and projects including immersion experiences, special programs, and group service projects. The coordinator develops, implements, and maintains the immersion programs including working with faculty members to develop orientations, reflection sessions, educational materials, and planning the experiences. The coordinator is responsible for staff/administrator recruitment, and training and development. The coordinator provides logistical planning support and maintaining accurate budget information for all immersion experiences. The coordinator will work closely with Campus Ministry in planning, recruiting students, providing post-experience follow-up, and assessing all immersion experiences.

Assistant Professor of Service Learning Leadership
Service Learning Institute at California State University, Monterey Bay
The Assistant Professor of Service Learning Leadership is responsible for overseeing CSUMB's Student Leadership in Service Learning (sl)2 Program and for teaching the core courses for the Minor in Service Learning Leadership. The Assistant Professor provides direction and vision for this cutting edge student leadership program that values compassion, diversity, justice and social responsibility. The program provides student leaders with the knowledge, skills and abilities to assist in service learning course instruction, to build and facilitate service learning community partnerships, and to become capable multicultural community builders and social justice advocates. The Service Learning Student Leadership Program ensures that student voice and participation is integrated throughout CSUMB’s service learning program, enabling CSUMB to deliver quality, social justice focused service learning campus-wide.
The Service Learning Institute is home to CSUMB's nationally acclaimed service learning program. CSUMB is one of the few universities in the nation to have instituted a service learning requirement for all undergraduate majors (http://service.csumb.edu). AmeriCorps*VISTA Coordinator, Cesar E. Chavez Service Clubs NEW!
The AmeriCorps*VISTA Coordinator for Cesar E. Chavez Service Clubs, is responsible for the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training and retention of up to 40 AmeriCorps*VISTA members and one AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader. The AmeriCorps*VISTA Coordinator works with approximately 25 AmeriCorps*VISTA supervisors as they oversee up to 40 AmeriCorps*VISTA members throughout California, and directly supervises one AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader. The AmeriCorps*VISTA Coordinator serves as liaison to a variety of community partners including non-profit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, educators, administrators, students and elected officials as they relate to AmeriCorps*VISTA member recruitment and service.
This position reports to the Manager of Cesar E. Chavez Service Clubs. Salary is $32-45,000 per year (depending on experience) plus benefits. It is a full-time, exempt position.

AmeriCorps VISTA Members, University of Oklahoma NEW!
The Office of the Vice Provost at the University of Oklahoma seeks two VISTA members to serve as research assistants in a study of the relationship between schools and community poverty in rural and urban areas of Oklahoma. The study seeks to alleviate poverty by identifying schools and their characteristics that have served as change agents in low-income communities. The volunteer will work in a state of the art social research facility housed on the research campus of a flagship institution for higher learning.
The successful candidate will conduct community mapping using GIS software and a variety of state and non-profit resources. The candidate will also work in partnership with other VISTA(s) to develop a database of service-learning activity on campus. Prior experience with GIS and tracking databases is not necessary to the position. However, candidates should be comfortable with technology and must be willing to become proficient in a variety of research methods using GIS, electronic databases and other research technologies. The successful candidate must be able to take initiative and work independently with support. All applicants must have an appreciation for the complexities of schooling and poverty issues. The successful candidate is flexible, always keeping the big-picture in view. Some proficiency in Spanish would also be helpful to the position.
The successful candidate must apply to Americorps for the VISTA program (https://recruit.cns.gov/applyform.asp) and be available for a January 29, 2008 – February 1, 2008 Pre-service Orientation Training in Albuquerque. VISTA is a twelve-month, full time commitment. VISTA member base salary is $833/month, including benefits paid by the CNCS. A modest allowance of $300 will be paid to the housing vendor selected by the VISTA. VISTA members may select the Education Award of $4,725 or the Completion Year of Service Cash Award of $1,200 after successful completion of service. The Gulfsouth Youth Action Corps Member
The Gulfsouth Youth Action Corps is comprised of a national network of college students who are dedicated to rebuilding youth services and opportunities in the hurricane affected areas of the Gulf Coast region. Corps members commit to a summer of service engaging, inspiring and empowering local youth through the Gulfsouth Youth Action Camp. The camp is an intensive 8-week (beginning late May through early August), holistic, cutting-edge, youth leadership program designed for students entering grades 5-8 (middle school) that focuses on:

AmeriCorps VISTA Members, NJ Commission on National and Community Service In Partnership with the Gloucester County Volunteer Center
The New Jersey Commission on National and Community Service has received a grant to support 12 AmeriCorps VISTA positions in the State of New Jersey. The Volunteer Center of Gloucester County has been chosen to receive one full time worker who will work to enhance volunteerism, youth service, corporate volunteerism, and service learning in Gloucester County. Located on the campus of Gloucester County College, the Volunteer Center will provide assistance with goal setting, supervision, and resources.
Our initiative responds to the need of the Volunteer Centers over many years for human resources and capacity development to reflect the growth of volunteerism in our youth and corporate sectors. This includes partnerships with those entities; recruitment and retention of baby boomers in meaningful service and the development of volunteer databases in each county for volunteer recruitment.
