Partnerships: A Journal of Service Learning and Civic Engagement, a new, peer-reviewed on-line journal published by the North Carolina Campus Compact, seeks an editor beginning April 1, 2008. Associate Director
The Carolina Center for Public Service (CCPS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The associate director assists the director with the establishment and fulfillment of the mission, goals, and day-to-day operation of the CCPS and is responsible for all facets of the Center in the absence of the Director. A detailed job description, including required qualifications and instructions for submitting an application, is attached.

CCPS is a pan-university center reporting to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement. The mission of CCPS is to engage and support the faculty, students and staff of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in meeting the needs of North Carolina and beyond. The Center strengthens the University’s public service commitment by promoting scholarship and service that are responsive to the concerns of the state and contribute to the common good.

Assistant Director for Leadership and Civic Learning
The Center for Leadership and Civic Education at Florida State University

The Assistant Director is responsible for the vision and direction of curricular and co-curricular programs and activities. The Assistant Director will serve as a member of the executive management team of the Center; supervise professional and graduate staff; develop and manage a comprehensive inventory of programs; provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of an extensive series of undergraduate service-learning courses; and serve as affiliate instructor for the College of Education’sUndergraduate Leadership Certificate Program.

Community College Development Specialist

Youth For Understanding USA is an international student exchange organization working with over 50 partner countries around the world. The Community College Program (CCP) of YFU USA is currently seeking a candidate available for 15 months who thrives on challenges; has excellent marketing and soft persuasive abilities; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and an enthusiastic drive to be successful.

The Development Specialist will research and develop potential community college prospects with the ultimate goal of recruiting up to six new community college partners within a 15-month period. Programs Coordinator
Center for Service and Social Action at John Carroll University

The Programs Coordinator of the Center for Service and Social Action has responsibility for programs and projects including immersion experiences, special programs, and group service projects. The coordinator develops, implements, and maintains the immersion programs including working with faculty members to develop orientations, reflection sessions, educational materials, and planning the experiences. The coordinator is responsible for staff/administrator recruitment, and training and development. The coordinator provides logistical planning support and maintaining accurate budget information for all immersion experiences. The coordinator will work closely with Campus Ministry in planning, recruiting students, providing post-experience follow-up, and assessing all immersion experiences.

Assistant Professor of Service Learning Leadership
Service Learning Institute at California State University, Monterey Bay

The Assistant Professor of Service Learning Leadership is responsible for overseeing CSUMB's Student Leadership in Service Learning (sl)2 Program and for teaching the core courses for the Minor in Service Learning Leadership.  The Assistant Professor provides direction and vision for this cutting edge student leadership program that values compassion, diversity, justice and social responsibility. The program provides student leaders with the knowledge, skills and abilities to assist in service learning course instruction, to build and facilitate service learning community partnerships, and to become capable multicultural community builders and social justice advocates.  The Service Learning Student Leadership Program ensures that student voice and participation is integrated throughout CSUMB’s service learning program, enabling CSUMB to deliver quality, social justice focused service learning campus-wide.

The Service Learning Institute is home to CSUMB's nationally acclaimed service learning program. Strategic Advisor for Native American Affairs

Washington, DC, $93,823.00 Per Year

3 Year Term Appointment 

Primary responsibilities will include:  Serving as an advocate on behalf of Native Americans to promote the delivery of National Service programs; working with Corporation programs to ensure the needs of Native American communities are met; and identifying opportunities to increase the effectiveness of National Service programming in Native American communities.   

Qualification Requirements: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

The Gulfsouth Youth Action Corps Member

The Gulfsouth Youth Action Corps is comprised of a national network of college students who are dedicated to rebuilding youth services and opportunities in the hurricane affected areas of the Gulf Coast region. Corps members commit to a summer of service engaging, inspiring and empowering local youth through the Gulfsouth Youth Action Camp. The camp is an intensive 8-week (beginning late May through early August), holistic, cutting-edge, youth leadership program designed for students entering grades 5-8 (middle school) that focuses on:

• Social Justice

• Youth Empowerment

• Youth Philanthropy

• Service-learning

AmeriCorps VISTA Members, Washington Campus Compact

Washington Campus Compact (WACC) is currently recruiting 8 VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) members to serve on college campuses across the state in the Seattle area, the Spokane area, Walla Walla, Olympia and the North Central Washington area.  WACC VISTA members will mobilize college service-learners and volunteers to serve poverty-affected P-12 students and community members, develop and sustain campus/community partnerships to serve poverty-affected students and community members and develop college service-learning projects within courses focused on poverty issues. Term of Service is February 1, 2008-January 31, 2009

AmeriCorps VISTA Members, NJ Commission on National and Community Service In Partnership with the Gloucester County Volunteer Center

The New Jersey Commission on National and Community Service has received a grant to support 12 AmeriCorps VISTA positions in the State of New Jersey.  The Volunteer Center of Gloucester County has been chosen to receive one full time worker who will work to enhance volunteerism, youth service, corporate volunteerism, and service learning in Gloucester County.  Located on the campus of Gloucester County College, the Volunteer Center will provide assistance with goal setting, supervision, and resources.

Our initiative responds to the need of the Volunteer Centers over many years for human resources and capacity development to reflect the growth of volunteerism in our youth and corporate sectors. This includes partnerships with those entities; recruitment and retention of baby boomers in meaningful service and the development of volunteer databases in each county for volunteer recruitment.

AmeriCorps VISTA Members, University of Missouri Extension

The University of Missouri Extension is currently seeking AmeriCorps*VISTA members to work with Missouri communities and University centers on community economic and entrepreneurial development projects for one year, beginning Jan. 2008.
