Capital Semester Fall 2008
(September 1 – December 13, 2008, Georgetown University, Washington, DC)
Sponsored by The Fund for American Studies in partnership with Georgetown University, Capital Semester combines substantive nonprofit internships, courses for academic credit, career development activities, exclusive briefings and lectures led by prominent policy experts and nonprofit executives.
The deadline has been extended until July 1, 2008, but admissions and scholarship decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
This face-paced program offers a rigorous combination of professional experience and academic learning that will provide students with an unparalleled experience in the nation’s capital. Next fall will be an exiting time to be in Washington – you will get to witness the Presidential Election first-hand!
Internships – Competitive placements with leading nonprofit organizations
Classes – 12 transferable credits from Georgetown University
Housing – In furnished, private residential buildings on Capitol Hill
Guest Lectures – Featuring prominent government officials and policy experts
Service Projects – Organized group service projects within the community
Site Briefings – At the White House Complex, State Department and U.S. House of Representatives
Leadership & Professional Development – Leadership, mentoring and career building activities
Networking – Interaction with student leaders from around the world
Scholarships – Over half of all students receive full or partial funding based on merit and financial need
