C.A.S.E. Grant (Second Round)


NC Campus Compact is pleased to announce a second opportunity to apply for a C.A.S.E.grant. On November 10, 2007, we awarded two Carter Academic-Service Entrepreneur (CASE) Grants for Campus-Community Collaboration. This grant was awarded to two NC Campus Compact students with the most innovative and promising ideas to use the $1000 grant to establish or significantly further a partnership between the student (and his or her school) and a community non-profit organization.
Funding for these grants was provided by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation. The third and final grant will be awarded during the 2008 Civic Engagement Institute on February 12, 2008.

Grants To Support Environmental Projects

The Captain Planet Foundation funds hands-on environmental projects to encourage youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Grants To Promote Human Rights On University Campuses

$500 grants are available to students who want to organize a campaign or series of events on their campus this spring to address human rights, in conjunction with the Americans for Informed Democracy “Rights Camera Action” Campaign. Global Competition To Help Young Men Succeed

Ashoka and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation are accepting applications to fund innovative approaches to supporting young men at right between ages of 15-25 in realizing their potential and achieving success. National Education Association Foundation Offers Support for Student Learning Improvement Projects NEW!

The NEA Foundation supports a variety of efforts by teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to improve student learning in U.S. public schools, colleges, and universities. The foundation is accepting applications for the following programs:

  • Learning & Leadership Grants: Provide opportunities for teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to engage in high-quality professional development and lead their colleagues in professional growth. The grant amount is $2,000 each for individuals and $5,000 each for groups engaged in collegial study.
  • Student Achievement Grants: Provide grants of $5,000 each to improve the academic achievement of students by engaging in critical thinking and problem solving that deepen knowledge of standards-based subject matter. The work should also improve students’ habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection.

Applicants must be practicing U.S. public school teachers in grades PreK-12; public school education support professionals; or faculty or staff at public higher education institutions. Visit the NEA Foundation website for complete program information. The application deadline is February 1, 2008.

Congressional Research Awards

The Dirksen Congressional Center invites individuals with an interest in studying Congress, including political scientists, historians, and biographers, scholars of public administration or American studies to apply for a Congressional Research Award. Do Something Offering Weekly Grants for Young Social Entrepreneurs

Do Something is a not-for-profit organization that works to inspire, support, and celebrate young social entrepreneurs and community activists. The organization is accepting applications for the following grant programs:

  • Do Something and GameStop are offering grants of $500 each to young people, age 25 and younger, in the United States or Canada who have a great idea for a community-action project and need support to turn their idea into reality. GameStop grants are given out weekly.
  • Do Something and Plum TV are offering grants of $500 each to social entrepreneurs, age 25 and younger, in the U.S. who have recently created a sustainable project, program, or organization and need funding to further the growth  and success of their program. Plum TV grants are given out weekly.
