Faculty Initiative
Launched in fall 2007, the Faculty Initaitive seeks to: 
- Connect like-minded faculty across member institutions to encourage individual and collaborative efforts that promote civic engagement
- Increase the visibility and influence of NC Campus Compact and its members in North Carolina by
- Engaging faculty in promoting civic engagement
- Fostering faculty research interests and skills to
- assist in providing information or finding solutions to NC issues
- Strengthen the Compact by expanding leadership opportunities for faculty
- Provide civic engagement growth opportunities for faculty
- Develop the initiative sufficiently to seek major funding for proposed/anticipated research
- Expand faculty involvement beyond the leadership corps that comprises the Faculty Engagement Initiative
- Encourage conference proposals
- Identify current research to be integrated into the online journal
- Consider new and innovative connections
The current initiatives are:
- Online Journal Initiative
- Service-Learning Research Initiative
- Learning Communities Initiative
- Civic Engagement Administration Initiative
- Future teachers of NC Initiative

Responsibilities of Faculty Involved in the Initiative

- Attend plenary meetings (September 28, 2007; February 12, 2008)
- Contribute to developing and implementing the initiative in which they are participating
- Involve in the initiative’s activities other faculty throughout the network as they identify those with similar interests
- Participate in bi-monthly conference calls with their team
- Serve for two years, renewable two times
- Characteristics: collaborative, committed to civic engagement and service-learning, ready to take on a challenge that can make a difference in NC, able to contribute skills and time to the initiative, preferably an expertise in the area for which they are selected.
- Seek opportunities to be advocates for NC Campus Compact and the Faculty Engagement Initiative
