This annual conference brings students together, from across the region, to network, share and learn about best practices and unique innovative ideas in civic engagement. Sessions focus on topics including community service, leadership, service-learning, advocacy and activism.
On even-numbered years, the conference occurs on a campus in the central part of the state. During such years, the conference is only on a Saturday. On opposite years, the conference takes place on a campus in the eastern or western part of the state (on a rotating basis). During such years, the conference usually begins on Friday night with a service-project or civic engagement activity followed by a social gathering. Saturday includes workshops, presentations and roundtable discussions. The 2007 conference experienced the highest attendance to date with 330 students and staff from 30 campuses hosted by East Carolina University.
During the conference luncheon the Community Impact Student Award is presented to select students from NC Campus Compact member campuses who exhibit outstanding leadership and innovative approaches in community service or service-learning endeavors. Visit the Awards section of the website for more information.
The conference is planned by the NC Campus Compact Student Advisory Board.
