Winter 2010 Regional Meetings/Webinars January 6 & 7, 2010 Professional Development Topic: "Building Intergenerational Trust" Presenter: MacArthur Antigua, Director of National Recruitment and Expansion for Public Allies Professional Development Documents: Visual Generational Behavior Survey Business Meeting Documents: MacArthur Antigua - Bio MacArthur is the Director for National Recruitment and Expansion for Public Allies. The mission of Public Allies is to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits and civic participation, and this is primarily done through its signature AmeriCorps Apprenticeship program that features over 600 young adults in18 cities across the country. Prior to this, MacArthur founded Massive Creativity, a coaching and consulting practice that facilitates spaces and experiences to cultivate the artistry and genius of individuals,organizations and communities. Massive's diverse client base included national service organizations like LISC/AmeriCorps and National Civilian Conservation Corps, to for-profit entities like Memorial Hermann Hospital. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Communication Studies. He resides in St. Paul, MN with his wife Paru, and two children Leela and Meera. Business Meeting: 2009-10 NC Campus Compact Calendar (downloadable) 2009-10 NC Campus Compact Calendar (web version) VISTA Professional Development Calendar Presenters: August 4 -Steve Kenny Steve Kenny is Director of Risk Management Services for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a position he has held since 1998. He is responsible for financing the university's risks using a combination of state-administered insurance programs, the purchase of commercial insurance and the self-retention of certain exposures. He also oversees the university's business continuity planning process. He serves on numerous university committees, including Chair of the Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity Committee. Before coming to Carolina, he began his professional career managing claims and litigation for The Hartford Financial Services Group. Mr. Kenny holds a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from Campbell University. August 6 - Jen Gilbride-Brown Jen Gilbride-Brown is Senior Program Director for Faculty & Campus Development with Ohio Campus Compact. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Policy & Leadership at The Ohio State University. Her dissertation research focuses on racially underrepresented college students’ experiences in service-learning. Before joining Ohio Campus Compact, she taught an undergraduate leadership course using service-learning at Ohio State University. She has been involved with a variety of community organizations working on emergency food assistance, nutritional support for people living with HIV, and after school academic support opportunities. Jen also served on the leadership board of the ASAP after-school support program at Broad Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio. Her professional areas of interest and scholarship focus on critical and social justice frameworks applied to service-learning, the scholarship of engagement, and building just and inclusive communities. In 2004, she was recognized with an Excellence in Teaching Award by The College of Education at OSU. She has also held a variety of student affairs positions at William and Mary, Grinnell College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Case Western Reserve University, and Ohio State University. She received her B.S. from Miami University and her M.Ed. from the College of William and Mary.
