"Preparing to Facilitate Public Dialogues: Encouraging Community Voice”

Tuesday, December 4, 2007, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

This discussion, facilitated by Margaret Henderson, Associate Director of the Public Intersection Project at UNC-Chapel Hill, focused on  furthering community engagement with the campus.  What if we don't like what we hear if we try to listen to the community? What if controversial topics or attitudes surface?  How do we ensure that student learning is enhanced as community and campus intersect? How do we interpret what is happening in our community? How does our office "spin" the negative stories that the community hears about us?

To learn more about the work of the Public Intersection Project, go to their web site: http://www.publicintersection.unc.edu/index.html.  This facilitated discussion and lunch are provided by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.
