Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Triad Collegiate Challenge 2010

Sit In. Stand Up. March On.
Logo Design Contest
Students from participating campuses were encouraged to submit original artwork based around the Triad’s theme of Sit In. Stand Up. March On. The winning logo will be used on t-shirts, posters, online advertisements, & more as the word is spread about the MLK Day of Service.
And the winner is....Kelsey Wagner from Guilford Technical Community College! Kelsey's design was selected from 25 submissions. Kelsey's design shows three barstools, symbolizing the barstools that the North Carolina A & T students sat on when they launched the Sit-In Movement on February 1, 1960 at a Woolworth's in downtown Greensboro, NC.
Greensboro’s Woolworth’s store desegregated its lunch counter several months after its sit-in, on July 26, 1960, serving blacks and whites alike. As early as one week after the Greensboro sit-in had begun, students in other North Carolina towns launched their own sit-ins which ultimately led to the complete desegregation of eating establishments nationwide.
