AUDITIONS FOR PROSPECTIVE MUSIC MAJORS
Music auditions are required of all incoming students desiring to major in music. Auditions are not required to minor in music. Auditions for choral and instrumental ensembles are held during the first few days of each semester for students in attendance at Elon University. Incoming or prospective students are not auditioned for any music ensembles before arriving in the fall semester.
VOCAL AUDITIONS
Prepare two contrasting selections from standard classical vocal literature. These should be accompanied solos, not choral parts. The songs should be performed from memory. An accompanist will be provided upon request.
INSTRUMENTAL AUDITIONS
Prepare two contrasting pieces, one lyrical and one to demonstrate technical skill. You can also choose music from contrasting style periods. You will be expected to play major scales. An accompanist will be provided upon request.

ALUMNI
Whether you were a music major or your major was in another field but you participated in any of our ensembles, you’re always welcome.
The Music Department Home Page has a listing of Music Department concerts and performances. All Music Department concerts are free and open to the public. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you might be coming to any of our performances. If you do attend one of our concerts, please visit with us afterwards. As you can see, we are continuing our strong tradition of offering rather diverse programming which provides our students with excellent opportunities to learn and gather performance experience, and provides our community wonderfully enriching and entertaining concerts. You helped pave the way and we extend our thanks. We hope to see you there.
We also heartily invite band alumni to come out and join us for our next Elon Alumni Band event this fall on September 16-17 for Homecoming. As you can see, Homecoming is very early in our schedule this year, so please make arrangements to join us for all the fun. Click the following link to the Elon Bands website for additional information and a registration form.
You will see a section on this page where we highlight Music Department alumni. We would enjoy hearing from you.
