Charlie Rozanski, ATC, began his term as the district
director of MAATA in June of 2004. He also serves on
the board of directors for the National Athletic Trainers'
Association (NATA). He is a certified athletic trainer
and is director of sports medicine with North Carolina
State University in Raleigh a position he as held since
1992.
A former member of NATA's College/University Athletic
Trainers' Committee and district secretary for the past
six years, Rozanski looks forward to broadening his
experience as a board member. "Having the opportunity
to be involved in the policy making for our national
association is exciting," Rozanski said. "There are
a lot of very knowledgeable people on that board of
directors, and I'm looking forward to hearing what they
have to say and trying to get a feel for how I can best
help the organization. My job is to build a consensus
within our district and to project the opinions and
attitudes of our district to the rest of the country,"
he added. |

Martin Baker is currently in his first term as secretary/treasurer for the MAATA. Prior to his stint as secretary/treasurer he served as the District III representative on the History and Achieves Committee, as well as serving on the Nominating Committee of the NATA-BOC.
Now in his 28th year at Elon Univeristy, Marty is the athletic trainer for the women’s basketball program. In addition, he was honored by the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association as the 2000-01 NCATA AthleticTrainer of the Year for colleges and universities.

| An innovative professional, Dr. Rod Walters has enjoyed a storied career as a collegiate athletic trainer. Most recently, Walters has provided outstanding consultations and is a much-sought after public speaker through Walters Inc. – Consultants in Sports Medicine. A member of the NATA, he served on NATA’s Board of Directors from 1997 - 2003. He received the NATA’s Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2003 and was inducted into the NATA’s Hall of Fame in 2005. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Walters has worked in the field of athletic training for more than 27 years. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degrees at Appalachian State University. He received his doctoral degree in physical education from Middle Tennessee State University. Walters was head athletic trainer at Lenoir-Rhyne College (N.C.) for five years before joining the staff at Appalachian and moved to the University of South Carolina in 1990, a member of the nation’s top athletic league in the Southeastern Conference. Walters served South Carolina for seventeen years. |

| Mike Hanley is a 1982 graduate of East Carolina University, and received a Masters degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1986. He has over 24 years experience as a certified athletic trainer at the high school and college levels. He has been employed by East Carolina University since 1990, and is currently the Assistant Director of Athletics for Medical Services and Head Athletic Trainer, as well as serving as an instructor in the undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program. As part of his duties, he is responsible for managing the athletic training budget for the needs of 19 intercollegiate sports. He represents the Athletic Department at campus-wide health and safety related meetings, and serves on policy making boards including the HIPAA Task Force. |
