About Habitat for Humanity
Elon University's chapter of Habitat for Humanity is one of the most active chapters in the country due to its commitment to fundraising for and building one house a year. Chapter members attend Saturday builds where they work with community members to build a house for a family in need. Additionally, Habitat members go weekly to the Habitat for Humanity Restore, where they volunteer to help with donations and run the store.
Elon's Habitat for Humanity fundraises year round to be able to contribute a significant donation to our community partner, Habitat for Humanity of Alamance County. Fundraisers such as our annual carpet sale, football concessions and letter writing campaigns help us raise these funds.
Habitat for Humanity at Elon is committed to helping community members that are struggling with housing.
What we do!
Every year, the Elon University chapter of Habitat for Humanity funds a new home in Alamance County. On Saturdays mornings during the school year, Elon students join local construction workers to work on the house.
The campus chapter also holds profit shares and other fundraising events to contribute to the building of the home.
At the Alamance County ReStore, Elon volunteers clean and sort donated items to prepare them for sale. They also organize items on the sales floor and interact with customers.
The ReStore serves as a significant source of income for the Habitat Chapter of Alamance County, so volunteers are helping to increase the funding available for home construction in the county.
