What are the youth of Africa doing about the problem of HIV/AIDS? The children of the Putuavanga AIDS Awareness Club are reaching out with passion, courage, humor, and love to their fellow Namibians. “The Shining Lights of Opuwo” is the story of an AIDS prevention club in Namibia, Southern Africa. The songs and dances of this group provide a colorful vehicle for conveying their important, frank, and touching messages of both warning and hope. Interviews with community members after the performance gave a voice to the many dimensions of the HIV/AIDS dilemma faced by Namibia. A performance at the Namibian National Theater in the capital city of Windhoek is featured as part of the success story of this group.
