Elizabeth Kamarck Minnich will be the senior scholar for the group. She will work with the seminar coordinator as he plans the face-to-face meetings, selects readings, and guides the discussions with the research scholars and seminar facilitators.
Donna Engelmann, John Ottenhoff, Rita Pougiales, Stephen Bloch-Schulman, and Ed Whitfield will work with Elizabeth Minnich and the ERS staff to structure and facilitate all seminar meetings (face-to-face and online), and will mentor participants at the seminar and through the year to develop and conduct appropriate research projects.
Facilitators
The staff of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (Peter Felten, Ben McFadyen, Katie King, and Barbara Guy) will work behind the scenes to make sure the goals of the project are achieved.
After being selected for participation in the ERS, participants will prepare for the first summer seminar by doing the pre-seminar reading/work and by making travel arrangements that allow them to be present for the entirety of the seminar meeting. During the summer seminar, participants will work together with their peers to deepen their understanding, and will develop a research project which they will carry-out at their home institutions.
In the academic year following the first summer seminar, participants will conduct research, collaborate online with other seminar members and with the Research Scholar mentoring their work, and will disseminate their work, including (but not limited to) leading a discussion/workshop on their home campus drawing from the seminar’s work. Participants will have similar responsibilities during the second year of the seminar, including attendance at the summer gathering to share their progress and to plan for integration and further dissemination of the ERS' work.
