About the Site

This site was constructed by the Elon University Environmental Studies Department to provide residents of North Carolina the opportunity to learn about the water quality of the Haw River. In response to resident's concern and desire to have a common place where they can not only learn about the importance of water quality and but determine their local water quality, this site was developed. This site allows you to access the US Environmetnal Protection Agency's realtime STORET Warehouse data. Using the information provided about pollutant standards you can determine whether your local water is polluted or in compliance. Furthermore you can learn about current issues in the Haw River Watershed and the new Stormwater Management Regulation, Phase II.
