Study AbroadWhat is study abroad? Elon’s top-rated study abroad programs give students the opportunity to spend time pursuing academic interests while experiencing life outside of Elon. At the Isabella Cannon Center for International Studies, students can choose from any of the more than 60 programs that Elon offers. Winter term, semester and summer programs allow for flexibility in planning a study abroad experience. More than 70 percent of Elon graduates study abroad for at least one term. What are the eligibility requirements? Most programs require sophomore, junior or senior standing; however, some require junior or senior standing. What is the application process? Each study abroad program has its own application process. Access study abroad applications online (link) or stop by the Isabella Cannon Center in Carlton 113. All applications involve writing an essay about your interest and preparation for your study abroad program. Some semester and summer study abroad applications need to be filled out one year in advance. Winter term applications may be submitted starting in April of the previous academic year. How much does it cost? Each program and term has a different price. View independent program brochures for detailed information. Winter Term 2007: $2,800 - $5,500 per course. Includes roundtrip international airfare, double-occupancy accommodations, all transportation and entrance fees associated with the course events and usually breakfast. Students are responsible for domestic flight arrangements in the US, lunch and dinner abroad and other spending money. Summer Term 2007: $2,685 - $6,280 per course. Includes accommodations, transportation and entrance fees associated with course events, some meals and summer tuition. Students are responsible for all flight arrangements, some meals abroad and other spending money.
