Leadership Development Retreats
"Leadership Challenge"

Each year the program sponsors several leadership development retreats at Elon’s conference facility at Seven Lakes near Pinehurst. Here supervisors and academic Chairs come together to discuss vital issues, practice leadership skills, and build professional relationships across departmental lines. The topics that at these workshops are:

• Elon University’s strategic goals and objectives
• Leadership’s role in helping accomplish these goals
• Building high performance teams in every department
• Supporting professional growth and developing within your department
• Learning how to manage and benefit from change

Each participant leaves Seven Lakes with their own personalized professional development plan, along with a peer mentor to help support them in achieving the goals they set for themselves as leaders at Elon.

The program will continue to sponsor and improve the existing leadership development retreats by trying other venues, alternate programming and new formats. One of the enhancements will be the “Leadership Challenge.” The participants would work with their cohort group in accomplishing one of the “Leadership Challenge” improvement projects. They would be given 2-3 months to complete the project to improve a process or resolve an institutional issue. They would present their results directly to the President and the Senior Staff.
