Ash Wednesday

Lent is the most important season of the year for Christians, which begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2024. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join us in one of the following services:

ASH WEDNESDAY
February 14, 2024

9:30 AM - Prayer Service with distribution of ashes - Numen Lumen Pavilion
12:15 PM - Ecumenical Service with distribution of ashes - Elon Community Church
4:00 PM - Prayer Service with distribution of ashes - Numen Lumen Pavilion
9:00 PM - Mass with distribution of ashes - Elon Community Church

Remember that Ash Wednesday is also a day of fasting (one full meal and two smaller meals without snacks in between) and abstaining from meat. Click here for more information about opportunities to have an impactful Lent!

Per Elon policy, students may request an excused absence from class for approved religious holidays, such as Ash Wednesday, to attend one of the services. Students must formally notify their instructor that they will miss class by completing the Religious Observance Notification Form before the deadline.
