Choose Children

...but Choose Children isn't an organization - it's an idea.

Alpha Xi Delta gives members the flexibility to look in their communities and decide how they can best benefit children. For the Theta Nu chapter we typically spend afternoons at the local Burlington Boys and Girls Club as well as significant contribution to ElonThon, Elon's fundraiser for Duke's Children's Hospital.

Our most significant achievement came this past year when we managed to raise $10,000 to build a new playground for the Burlington Boys and Girls Club. This was accomplished with a series of fundraising events we hosted as well as financial support from the community. Construction took place September 28, 2006.

In the spirit of our philanthropy, we put concentrated effort into causes that help children. This includes on-campus events such as Elonthon, a 24-hour dance marathon benefitting Duke Children's Hospital.

Off-campus, members volunteer in local organizations that help children including the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, the Junior Police Academy, local schools and more.

To fundraise for these philanthropies, Alpha Xi Delta sponsors two annual events: Bump it, Thump it! (a volleyball tournament) in the fall and a Four Square tournament in the spring.
