What are my grading options if a student is “responsible” for a violation?

Answer:  The Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs will send a letter to faculty members after a student has been found responsible or taken responsibility for an honor code violation that explains the following:

"Faculty have the right to decide whether any violation warrants a student's failing the course, the specific assignment, or some other part of the course.  Faculty members should make their decisions based on their own judgment of what is appropriate given the circumstances and their course policies."

Faculty members are not obligated to report their decision to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.
