What will occur in the preliminary administrative meeting the student has with the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs?

Answer:  The Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs will present the student with a copy of the academic honor code and explain that one of his/her professors had some questions about an assignment.  The Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs will show the documentation to the student and ask him/her to discuss the circumstances surrounding it.

The Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs will then explain Elon's judicial process to the student and ask him/her to sign a statement of either "responsible" for the violation or "not responsible."  In some cases, students are given up to 24 hours to consider their response.

If the student selects "responsible" and opts for an administrative hearing with the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs rather than sanctions given by the judicial board, the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs will explain the sanctions and will encourage the student to contact the instructor to discuss grade implications.

If the student selects "not responsible" the case will automatically go to a judicial hearing and the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs will contact the professor about a time for the hearing.
